Since the release of the Switch we’ve seen great support for indie games or ‘Nindie’ games for the Nintendo console. These unique game experiences have thrived within the Nintendo fandom and Nintendo Direct E3 was no different.
Killer Queen Black
This announcement was so unexpected but who wouldn’t jump at the chance to get this stellar arcade game into their home console. In local arcades with retro machines and odd-patterned carpet from the 80s, this massive, ten player, yellow and blue machine stood out from rest. Announced to release in 2018, you’ll be able to take the competition home in an eight player brawl to be the best hive. Play as worker bees with a powerful Queen to lead your team of four players as you attempt to conquer the other team. You can win through a military victory wherein you kill the enemy Queen three times, or an economic victory wherein you fill up your hive with berries, or a snail victory wherein you coax the giant snail into your teams basket. Queens are fast and powerful but cannot help with harvesting and worker bees can be made into warrior bees. The competition quickly grows fierce and the strategies will make your mind spin.
Hollow Knight
The adorably dark dungeon-crawler has officially been released for the Switch. Take your tiny insect hero and explore the ruins of a city long encumbered. Giant beasts either friend or foe will cross your path and you must be quick enough to befriend or destroy to survive in this miserable underworld. The beautiful soundtrack will captivate you as you explore a lonesome kingdom with a mystery waiting to be uncovered. Hollow Knight is emotionally powerful and effectively challenging in its gameplay and is available now on the Nintendo eShop.
