Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Hit the Switch in Late 2022

by Tawny

Although Pokémon Legends: Arceus recently released, fans won’t have to wait too long for a new game. In Nintendo’s February 2022 Pokémon Presents livestream, the trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet was revealed.

Many of the Pokémon series’ games are inspired by real-life locations, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are no exceptions. These games appear to take place in a world inspired by Spain. The reveal trailer featured a map of Spain, but the architecture and scenery inside the trailer do a great job applying its inspiration.

Additionally, the games’ starter pokémon were announced, including Sprigatito (grass type), Fuecoco (fire type), and Quaxly (water type). According to the official website, Sprigatito is a “capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat pokémon.” Fuecoco is a “laid-back Fire Croc pokémon that does things at its own pace.” And Quaxly is an “earnest and tidy Duckling pokémon.”

Also revealed in the trailer is how each game’s player characters wear colors that correspond to their own game. Scarlet players will wear a vibrant orange and blue outfit while Violet players will wear a more muted purple outfit. However, it is very likely that players will be able to change their clothes, as this has been a trend in most recent Pokémon titles.
