February 2022’s Nintendo Direct dropped a variety of game announcements and updates. While we didn’t get information on the upcoming Breath of the Wild sequel or much needed information on Metroid Prime 4, Nintendo dished out some sweet surprises for us. Below you can find all the Nintendo Switch games highlighted in today’s presentation.

Splatoon 3’s New Salmon Run Mode (“Next Wave”)

Splatoon 2’s Salmon Run, a co-op horde mode, returns in Splatoon 3 with new boss salmonids, gear and more. While Splatoon 3 does not have an official release date yet, players can look forward to working for Mr. Grizz again.

Nintendo Switch Sports

Our favorite virtual bowling and tennis games are returning to the Nintendo Switch version of Wii Sports. Nintendo Switch Sports features many of the series’ classic sports as well as new games such as badminton, volleyball and soccer. A beta test for Nintendo Online subscribers will open up February 18-20 for select games.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Booster Course Pack

A whopping 48 courses will be added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as DLC. Waves of content will be released from March 18 until the end of 2023. Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii and Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour are just a few of the exciting maps to be added to the game.

Earthbound & Earthbound Beginnings

Mother series fans are rejoicing today. The localized versions of Earthbound Beginnings & Earthbound are available to play on Nintendo Switch Online today. If you haven’t checked out the origins of Ness from Super Smash Bros. and his epic adventures, now is your chance! (Let’s hope that we see Mother 3 in the future!)

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 concluded today’s Nintendo Direct livestream. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 follows two youths, Noah and Mio, as they are wrapped up in a war between nations. This game aims to “connect the futures of both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2” and will be released September 2022.
