Nintendo Reveals DIY Cardboard Crafts for Your Switch

by Tawny

Today, Nintendo revealed to us the first look at Nintendo Labo, Nintendo’s latest line of… DIY crafts?

The “First Look at Nintendo Labo” video released today at 2 PM PST/5 PM EST. Nintendo Labo is an interactive building experience where players use software on the Nintendo Switch to build various cardboard crafts. But these aren’t just regular crafts. The crafts you build can be used interactively with various games on the Nintendo Switch console.

Nintendo Labo currently has two building kits you can choose from: the Toy-Con 01, the Variety Kit, and the Toy-Con 02, the Robot Kit. Each kit provides players with cardboard sheets, as well as the items used to build with, such as string, eyelet sets, rubber bands, and more. Additionally, the kits come Nintendo Labo software that you follow step-by-step to build your craft.

The Robot Suit, the finished product from the Toy-Con 02 kit.

The Variety Kit comes with five different “Toy-Con projects” that are debuted in the video, which include two RC cars, a fishing rod, a house, a motorbike, and a piano. The Robot Kit comes with the materials used to make a “Robot Suit.” Both kits, again, build crafts that interact with games on the Nintendo Switch console. The Variety Kit’s retail price is set at $69.99 and the Robot Kit’s price is set at $79.99.

You can find more information on Nintendo Labo at the official Nintendo Labo website, as well as in the trailer video below. Both the Variety Kit and Robot Kit will release on April 20th, 2018.
