New Pokémon: Let’s Go Trailer Shows Vermillion City, Team Rocket, and More

by Katy Hojnacki

A new trailer for the Pokémon: Let’s Go games showcases familiar sights and the return of the classic Team Rocket duo.

The latest trailer for Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon: Let’s Go Eevee begins by highlighting Vermillion City. Long time fans of the series will recognize the city’s traditional layout in the newly rendered 3D, as well as the landmarks of Lt. Surge’s electric Gym and the cruise ship S.S. Anne. Unlike in previous games, the 3D ship has more to explore and see, including letting your partner Pokémon get a nice view from the bow railing!

Jessie and James, the Team Rocket pair known from the Pokémon anime, will be returning to the series for the first time since their cameo in Pokémon Yellow Version. The two are shown battling alongside one another in a double battle against the protagonist. Koffing and Ekans return as the Rockets’ partner Pokémon.

In addition, this trailer confirmed the presence of Mega-Evolutions for the series. The Mega-Evolved forms of Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard all make an appearance. The battle background is a blue-green, Pokémon Center-themed environment. The scene is similar to online battling backgrounds in the recent 3DS games, and could suggest that the Pokémon: Let’s Go games will support online battling with friends.

The full trailer can be viewed on the official Pokemon YouTube channel or at the bottom of this article.

What are you most excited for with the Pokémon: Let’s Go games? Do you think online battles will make a return, or is it just a limited setting for Mega Evolutions? Tell us your theories in the comments below!
