Two Challenging Titles Switch Online: Drunk Edition

by Faren Elle

In the newest release, Nintendo presents a pair of highly challenging games for their players.

adventure of link

The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, is a signifier of the success the Zelda series received. This was the first glimpse that Link’s story would stick around for a while. This game is a classic and a difficult one at that. Want to revamp the fun with a few friends? Turn this quest into a drinking game. Take turns playing with a group of friends and when the player dies, everyone else takes a drink. If an item is obtained, everyone drinks. If a boss is defeated, everyone finishes their drink. The Adventure of Link is an intense game deserving of an intense drinking challenge, but it’ll guarantee some silly antics whilst strolling through memory-ridden terrain.

The second addition to the Online Roster is Blaster Master. This title reigns in the beloved genre of shoot ‘em up platformers. Blaster Master can be best described as one-part Alice In Wonderland and another-part Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a tank thrown in. Jason loses his frog, Fred, down a mysterious hole and upon following him, finds a barrage of mutant creatures. He must find his way through 8 levels of this horde if he ever wants to see his lil’ pal again. There is a significant lack of save points or passwords in this mission so prepare for a lot of high-risk deaths. To help with the misery of failure that’s bound to happen, it’s best to turn to drinking! Play with a group of friends and when the player dies, that person will take a drink. Whenever a player is the first to reach a walking only area, everyone else takes a drink. When a boss is defeated, everyone takes a drink. This game is going to kick your ass no matter what, might as well work in some competitive fun.

Remember that you can play these NES classics with your friends online. You can play co-op, competitive, or single player games, the latter requiring that you take turns. If your friend is struggling in single-player mode, you can point to the answer with your own hand cursor. Think of it as the Journey effect. If you don’t know, Journey was a title for the PS3 where you connect with other players online anonymously. You both help each other in your quest to the top of the mountain. No words or texts can be expressed to one another; this breeds ultimate teamwork and even creates a bond between these players. It’s doubtful that we’ll have an in-console chat for the Switch, but this option can make online play interesting.
