The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra Reveal

Today’s Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct revealed new Sword and Shield content.

Unlike past games in the Pokémon series, Game Freak decided to change things up with Sword and Shield. Rather than releasing a third game in the series (e.g. Emerald) or direct sequels (e.g. Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon), players will be able to purchase expansion packs to add onto Sword and Shield’s base game.

By buying the pass, players will get two expansion areas. The first, Isle of Armor, will release in June 2020 whereas the second, The Crown Tundra, is scheduled to release in Fall of this year. These expansions contain many new (and old) pokémon, including more Gigantamax forms and pokémon that are brand new to the series. In The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, we’ll also get access to new stories, characters, and gear that you can sport in your new journey. Additionally, instead of creating a third game and having to start all over, your save data will carry over into the new content.

The expansion pass for The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra will cost $29.99. Feel free to check out more information in the Nintendo Direct presentation below.
