Nintendo has finally released its own Battle Royale style game – Tetris 99, a multiplayer Tetris battle!

Tetris 99 by developer ARIKA features classic Tetris gameplay with the standard pieces and controls. Much like other Tetris battle versions of the game, players can turn their successful piece removals and point gain into grey “garbage” pieces to clog the boards of other players.

However, the margins of this Tetris board feature thumbnail screens of the 98 other opponents. Players can control with the right stick which player they would like to target – Random, Killshots (players close to losing), Counter (a player that attacked them previously), or Badges (players with more in-game achievements). Alternatively, an individual player can be targeted with a cursor using the left stick.

The game is free to download as of the Nintendo Direct on February 13. Online play is available for all Nintendo Switch Online members.
