All You Need to Know About the 2019 Pokémon Conference

by Tawny

At 6 PM PST / 9 PM EST, the Pokémon Company hosted a press conference to announce its upcoming plans for Pokémon fans all across the globe. Let’s take a closer look at the new mobile experiences, games, and more that were announced at the Pokémon 2019 press conference!

Pokémon HOME

Ranging from consoles, to handhelds, to smartphones, Pokémon is virtually everywhere. Through Pokémon HOME, players can bring all Pokémon together, no matter the device. Pokémon HOME is a cloud service that works with smart phone devices, Pokémon Bank, and the Nintendo Switch. Pokémon from Pokémon Bank, Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu!, Pokémon: Let’s Go Eevee!, Pokémon: Sword, Pokémon: Shield, and Pokémon GO are all accessible through Pokémon HOME, allowing players to manage their collection in one convenient place.

What makes it unique is its trading capabilities. Players can trade globally, locally, or with friends using Pokémon HOME via mobile device, making trading easier than ever.

Pokémon HOME is set to launch in early 2020 on iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Sleep

Niantic got us on our feet with Pokémon GO, but gaming experiences are soon to come with Pokémon Sleep.

While little details were revealed regarding the upcoming mobile app, Pokémon Sleep is a game that will utilize a new device based on the Pokémon GO Plus device. This new device, titled the Pokémon GO Plus + (yes, two pluses), tracks your time sleeping through an embedded accelerometer and sends it to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Pokémon GO Plus + also has the same function as the original Pokémon GO Plus, so it benefits players awake and asleep.

Pokémon Sleep will launch in 2020 on mobile devices.

Pokémon Masters

A new Pokémon mobile game is on its way to iOS and Android devices!

Pokémon Masters, made by the Pokémon Company and DeNA, aims to let players experience a new on-the-go type of Pokémon battling. The game will include many iconic Pokémon characters, like champions and other famous trainers, throughout the long history of its games. The game will let anyone casually pick it up and play, it will not require the use of another game or system.

Additional Information

Detective Pikachu for the Nintendo Switch: With the recent release of the POKÉMON Detective Pikachu movie, a new Detective Pikachu game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Since the 3DS version of the game ended on a cliffhanger, the Nintendo Switch game will give the story a proper conclusion.

Pokémon Center: Additionally, a Pokémon Center retail store is coming to Shibuya in fall 2019. The Shibuya Pokémon Center will coincide with the Shibuya Parco shopping center, featuring a sleek, modern design that “merges Pokémon with technology.”

“Pokémon Shirts”: Tsunekazu Ishihara, president of The Pokémon Company, ended the conference announcing a new service in Japan called Pokémon Shirts. This service builds made-to-order original clothing designs featuring the OG 151 Pokémon. While flaunting one of the custom designs onstage, Mr. Ishihara expanded on Pokémon Shirts, assuring fans that the service will come to more regions in the future, including the United States and Europe.
