New Nintendo Switch Fitness Game Revealed: Ring Fit Trainer

Ring Fit Adventure

The mystery behind Nintendo’s strange new controller has been revealed to be part of a new fitness game called Ring Fit Trainer.

Ring Fit Trainer utilizes the Ring Con and leg strap accessories. The leg strap accessory uses the normal joy con gyro, but the Ring Con controller appears to be an entirely new device to work with the Joy Con. The circle-shaped controller can read a variety of motions and detect the level of force used to press the sides of the mechanism together. The amount of force necessary can be adjusted in-game to match the player’s abilities.

The Ring-Con and Leg Strap accessories are included with the Ring Fit Adventure game.

Ring Fit Adventure features a cheesy, but charming adventure mode. The story revolves around an “evil body-building dragon” as the primary villain. The player will journey through several environments and battle monsters as they work to save the world.

The game’s controls all utilize motion controls and the new Ring Con and leg strap accessories. Running in place and adjusting the Ring Con controller move the character through stages.

Exercise maneuvers are used to fight various monsters in the game. Color coded skills work with different types of exercises, and the accuracy of the player’s moves affects their abilities in combat.

In addition, there are several quick play modes that focus more directly on exercise routines, including a quick exercise repetition, targeted muscle group sets, and assorted minigames.
