All That You Need to Know From the Nintendo Direct Mini

The Nintendo Direct Mini just aired yesterday, and gave us a lot of information in a small amount of time. Here’s all the goodies unpacked and some general info on them for you just in case you haven’t caught it yet!

Upcoming Games

Xenoblade Chronicles is getting its definitive installment on the Nintendo Switch on the 29th of May, with updated graphics and music, as well as actual performance and menu revamps. It also includes a new ending epilogue called Future Connected. The game in North America will be including a 250 page hardbound artbook in the Definitive Works edition now up for pre-order.

2K is having three of their most beloved titles ported to the Nintendo Switch: The Bioshock Collection (Bioshocks 1, 2, and Infinite with all their DLC), the Borderlands: Legendary Collection (Borderlands 1, 2, and the Pre-Sequel with all of their DLC), and the XCOM 2: Collection (with the War of the Chosen expansion and four select DLC included). All of these titles drop on the 29th of May as well, so be sure to watch out for them!

Shinsekai: Into the Depths is an underwater, side-scrolling adventure game now available on the Nintendo Switch!

Good Job, is a top down indie game where you are tasked with getting a certain job done each level in various, and often times hilarious, ways, and is also now available!

Catherine: Full Body, a puzzle platforming game where your character Vincent has to choose between three women, Katherine, Catherine, and Rin, and will release July 7th!

King’s Bounty II, a Tactical Roleplaying Game from a series that has shaped the genre, was announced to release this year of 2020.

Bravely Default II will be coming to the Switch this year after its first fame was released back in 2012, and was succeeded by Bravely Second: End Layer, and the game will serve as a sequel to both, featuring all new characters and an all new world, and will be available some time this year. But a demo for the game is out now, so feel free to check it out to either get reacquainted with the series or see how you like it!

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, a collection of games like dominoes, checkers, and air hockey is now available for pre-purchase, and will be release on June 5th.

Ninjala, a battle royale game where you and seven other ninja fight to claim victory in urban cityscapes with a variety of weapons, much in the vein of Splatoon along with its team fighting mode. This free-to-play release will be out on May 27th!

Sci-Fi RPG Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is now on the console, multiplayer and all, and Star Wars Racer will be coming soon!

A remake of Panzer Dragoon, the classic on rails shoot-em-up, will be a timed exclusive for the Switch, releasing March 26th of this year.

Updates

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be getting its Easter event soon this April 1st! The day one download patch included this, and another update will be available later in April including new features, such as an Earth Day event.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will be getting its new expansion pass The Black Order including the Curse of the Vampire, Rise of the Phoenix, and Shadow of Doom, all of which are available now!

The 6th Fighter for Super Smash Brothers has been slightly delayed, but will be a contestant from Nintendo’s competitive character action game ARMS, and will be announced in June! Until then, there will be a free game trial for any Nintendo Online user that allows them to play the entire game for free!

Ring Fit Adventure is the hit workout game for the Switch using its new Ring-Con and leg strap accessories will now include a rhythm game, and will include 17 tracks from Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and The Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild.  A Jogging mode will be included for a more relaxed experience through either custom or quick play modes for anyone not in a “battling mood.” There are also now language and female voice options for your ring friend, all of which is now available for the game!

Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion passes include the island seascape of the Isle of Armor and the frozen snowscape of the Crown Tundra. The Isle of Armor will feature a dojo to train yourself and your pokemon alongside other masters, and you can earn the new legendary pokemon, Kubfu from master mustard. The Towers of Two Fists, Darkness and Waters, can be chosen between for you and Kubfu to face alone, after which Kubfu will evolve into Urshifu, gaining the power of either Single Strike style or Rapid Strike style depending on whether you face the Darkness or the Waters respectfully. Alongside this, your evolved starters can all gain a gigantimax form with a new move after conquering the new island! New outfits, hairstyles, and League Card customizations will be available alongside this pass at the end of June, and The Crown Tundra expansion will also be available this fall. Purchase of the pass before August 31st will include Leon’s Cap and Tights. A few pokemon will have higher chances of running into their gigantimax versions.
