Today, Terry Bogard Faces the Fury in Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate!

by Maverick Dagwood

As announced by Masahiro Sakurai in today’s prerecorded Nintendo Direct, Terry Bogard will be joining the fight as of today, November 6th. Terry himself comes from the King of Fighters series of games from the company SNK, a games developer known for popular series such as Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, and Samurai Showdown. Terry was announced back in September to be included in the Fighter Pass, and is now releasing along with some new content for the game that will be added in the same update.

In update Version 6.0 of the game, a new King of Fighters themed stage is to be included to match Terry’s reveal. This is where Sakurai introduced Terry’s full moveset and the assist trophy characters that come from the Fatal Fury series themselves. There are also characters from other SNK games, such as Athena Asamiya from Psycho Soldier. The SNK love doesn’t stop there, as their inclusion brings along 50 tracks to the game from their entire lineup of games. A few spirits here, some SNK mii fighter skins there, and a few new Amiibo for good measure (featuring Simon, Chrom, and Incineroar) round out the less technical side of the Direct.

In other news, the characters Donkey Kong, Jigglypuff, King K. Rool, and Incineroar will be granted a small bout of buffs with this update, with a small nerf to Hero’s Kafrizz move. On the information side of things, this 6th version of the game brings along some quality of life improvements, such as the host of an online lobby being able to change the rules from within the game. There are also preset messages to be sent into the chat function of the arenas you join. Speaking of joining arenas, you can now do so if the arena is open without a password, so have fun joining with friends and strangers alike. Among other improvements, this will all be added within version 6.0 released later today, so be sure to grab your Fighter Pass and join in on the fun!
