A new version of the Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch Lite, has been announced. The system will release on September 20 and will retail at $199.99 US.

The Nintendo Switch Lite is a console optimized for handheld play. Instead of the detachable Joy Cons, the controllers are built into the device, though they lack the IR camera and HD Rumble features of the Joy Con controllers. Additional Joy Con controllers can be connected wirelessly to the system. Any game that is compatible with Handheld Mode will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch Lite. Unlike the main Nintendo Switch console, the Lite system cannot connect to a TV.

The Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition

Systems will be available in grey, yellow, and turquoise. In addition, there will be a special Zacian and Zamazenta Edition of the console, which launches November 8th. The special Nintendo Switch Lite comes a week before the new Pokemon games launch on November 15th.

The Nintendo Switch Lite is smaller and lighter than the original Nintendo Switch and has slightly longer battery life.
