Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase 7.20.2020 Recap

by Garrett Boyle

Nintendo dropped its first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase today, which was among the shortest Direct presentations they had ever done. As such, there were not many announcements made in the presentations. Much of what was discussed were updates for already announced games, new content for an already released title, and a remaster.

The first announcement was in regards to Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the Necrodancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda developed by Brace Yourself Games. More simply knowns as Cadence of Hyrule, this action-based rhythm game was released last year and is receiving additional paid content. The game will get three DLC packs available by October, all purchasable through a season pass. A physical version of the game is releasing on October 23.

Rogue Company is a team-based online multiplayer third-person shooter from Hi-Rez Studios. Up to eight players can compete in a match. Not too many specifics were said about the game, but the game is available now.

In WWE 2K Battlegrounds from Saber Interactive is a departure from the wrestling series push toward realism. Play as WWE Superstars in a more cartoonish take on professional wrestling. Wrestlers take on truncated appearances and perform moves that would not normally be possible in the real world. WWE 2K Battlegrounds releases on September 18.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster from Atlus was announced. This game was originally released in 2003 for the PlayStation 2. It is considered by fans of the series to be one of the best RPGs of all time. The HD remaster is set to release in spring 2021.

The final reveal of the Direct was another look at Shin Megami Tensei V. This game was among some of the first titles announced for the Nintendo Switch, so it has been in development for at least three years. The story seems to take place in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo. No gameplay was shown, but it will likely be similar to past games in its series. Shin Megami Tensei V is scheduled for a worldwide release in 2021.

This may be the protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei V. Even now, any information about the game is vague.

At the end of the Direct, it was stated that another Partner Showcase Direct will be presented sometime this year.
