Fire Emblem: Three Houses Announced for Nintendo Switch

by Garrett Boyle

The long-awaited next entry in the Fire Emblem franchise, a turn-based strategy RPG series, was officially revealed during the Nintendo Direct for E3 2018. Titled Fire Emblem: Three Houses, this new title is set to release in Spring 2019.

The main character can freely roam in certain areas of the game.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is set in Fodlan, a land controlled by the Church of Seiros.  The story follows three protagonists, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude. A new feature in this entry has a platoon of soldier follow a controllable unit and back them up in combat. This will likely be used for new strategy options.

Troops will make formations around controllable units.

In certain segments of the game, players can freely control the main character to interact with other characters and gather information. If Three Houses takes cues from recent entries, it is safe to bet the main character will be a customizable avatar.
