Mr. Sakurai recorded a special presentation for the new fighter in Smash: Min Min! The presentation was filmed in his home due to the global pandemic, but Mr. Sakurai received recording equipment to share gameplay for the announcement.
Min Min is one of 15 fighters in ARMS. Her mechanics for Smash are quite a deviation from the usual Smash faire. The A and B buttons control her left and right ARMS respectively, and her Down+B can change which glove is equipped on her right ARM. Landing a grab even powers up her dragon ARM on the left, making her attacks more powerful. She can even launch smash attacks in the air, though they’re tricky to land.
Min Min uses her long range dragon ARM to attack.
She is not much of a close fighter, but her attacks do extend to keep opponents away. The attack range of her ARM attacks is long, and she has some kick attacks for up close. Of course, her Final Smash is a special Rush attack! This features a cut scene including several ARMS fighters to help Min Min!
Spring Stadium is the new stage that comes with Min Min. It has trampolines on either side and arches overhead that fighters can bounce off of when launched.
The Fighter’s Pass for Min Min includes 18 songs from ARMS, including all of the stage themes and a couple other tracks.
Mr. Sakurai demonstrates how ARMS characters have extendable spring arms.
Fans of the game may not be surprised at Min Min’s selection, as she is a very popular character. Mr. Sakurai said that Min Min was selected because Mr. Yabuki asked for her!
Min Min is included in Fighter’s Pass 2, a second wave of DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The character, stage, and music will be available on June 29th for $5.99 USD.
